Fun Minnesota Stories on Farms and Olympians To Be Shared at St. Joseph School
As part of I Love to Read Month combined with a belated Catholic Schools Week, author Patrick "Packy" Mader is delighted to be invited to St. Joseph School in Rosemount, Minnesota. Rosemount is the school district of Olympian Shani Marks Johnson (please see the picture below), a track and field athlete, and Dakota County is the home of many athletes featured in the book including cross country skier Lindsay Whalen (as the picture shows, she loves dogs!), steeplechase runner Don Timm, and track and field athlete Heather Dorniden (in the Irish shirt). Packy will also share his four children's picture books that celebrate rural life and traditions with positive messages as well as his new, nonfiction book about Minnesota Olympians and their lives, challenges, and achievements.
Agriculture education is a component of Packy's engaging and entertaining presentation to primary grades. He brings an authentic milking machine, large storyboards, and a big cow marionette as props. For the intermediate grades, a multimedia presentation with video clips, pictures of athletes in competition and how they look today, are shown in a Power Point slide program. His book, Minnesota Gold, highlights 57 state athletes from a variety of sports and eras.
